Block 5

This block completes the edge of the quilt.

Lets hope that the colours I have picked will work!  You will have to like blue.

hey! look what I found

a walk down memory lane - Doreen and I had so much fun.  Too bad I didn't keep this up for the whole trip.

July 15. 2016
Well it is time to say good bye to Mom and set off for the West!  Calgary here we come.  After packing everything into the car we found one milk crate sized box with rooster heads sticking out behind Doreen.  So a few adjustments and we were off.  Maybe a little later then we should have left but we are on vacation so why hurry.

Our first quilt store today was Cotton Harvest in Seaforth, and then Kalidoscope of Quilts in Exeter, both in Ontario.  We found the stores located on the main street and really enjoyed finding a fat quarter or two.

Life is good on vacation.  Doreen arrived today, so watch out Double Trouble has hooked up and is about to tour.  ...........What?...........  Double Trouble is what Doreen has named our trip.  Now that she is in Owen Sound, Ontario we will be heading to Calgary via who knows which route!

But first we are taking my Mom on a day trip.  We hit Port Elgin first - Shoreline Quilts.  It was hard not to buy a lot.  I am looking for reds and then sets of lights and darks to go with my teals.  I
found some plus the lining or front for a bag.

Next we stopped at one just outside of  Mount Forest, Creekbank Sewing Machine Shop.  I had success here too.

We tried to go to the Markdale shop but were just too late.  Maybe next year.

Block 3 and 4

Block Four

Stars are one of the blocks that I really don't like sewing.  But sometimes you have to sew them.

Block Three

These blocks are the same design as block two.  They are paper pieced and their positioning at the edge of the quilt causes the large triangles to become a rhombus.

How is that for remembering my school days.  Can you tell I loved math.

Block 2

I now have the 7 blocks to add to the one I completed yesterday.  The 8 blocks of step two will help to turn the corners.

Starting a new quilt !

I am starting the laundry basket quilt called California.

I am going to try to use scraps I have at home.  My lights will be whites, creams, greys and maybe blue tinges.  For the colour I think that I will use blues and greys.

My first blocks or step 1.

The first of eight blocks of step two.

Here is the site that l got the pattern from:

I think you will enjoy the Laundry Basket site.

I'm back

So much time has gone by.  BUT I am back quilting and knitting mostly.

I am setting off on an organizing journey into my CREATIVE WORLD.  It will take place in my past, present and future projects.

So today I have put my stuff back into my sewing room after being at a retreat for the last three days.

While dragging all my sewing things in I saw a microwave bowl holder kit On the floor.  Guess what?  I got distracted and sewed it.  I now have 2 holders great for our cereal bowls.

I will be very careful if I put them in my microwave.  I once put one of the potatoe baking bags into the microwave and took in out just before it started to flame.  Yes there was a red hot smoking shape the size of a quarter.  The glowing red fibres did look pretty but not what I was aiming for.

Take a look at my Handiwork Album to see what I finished on the retreat.
