Welcome to the Courses by Carol site!

Hi!  I'm Carol Abernethy, a die hard quilter and handicraft-er of most disciplines.  I've taught quilting for a few years and have quilted for many, many, more.  So it is time to spread my wings a little bit.  I will continue to teach as I have been but you will now find some courses on this site that I also offer.

So take a look around and if you see something that interests you, or you want me to teach you how to make a special quilt that has caught your eye let me know.  It just takes two to run a class.

I have the ability to use a studio space in the south end of the city, it has everything but you and your project material.  Yes - it has the machines, mats and rotary cutters - everything but your project material.  I will also work at a more northerly location, yet to be secured.  So stay turned.  For a small group I maybe able to handle you at a spot more centrally located for now, if the project is doable in the location's restrictions.

So stay tuned for updates and new courses.

Just in time for Valentine's Day

This is the "Raspberry Kiss" block from Wooden Spoon Quilts' site that my guild friends challenged me to sew.  I not only made them some but also created a whole bunch for myself.  The finished pillow will be dressing up my sofa for all of February.

Why not make a small quilted item for Valentine's Day.  You can make this block or do a strip pieced heart that is appliqued onto a background fabric.

If you want to learn how to create a strip pieced project give me a call or slip me an email.  All you need is some scraps and background fabric to get started.

December 28th, 2015

Nothing like a girls outing to quilt shops to pick up your spirits and stash inventory!  3 of us ventured out and were quite happy with our findings.  It also helped that we found a couple sales.

I fell in love with a couple charm packs so stay tuned for their placement in quilt projects to come.

Once we had our fill of material shopping and great food over lunch, I returned home to get typing out a pattern on EQ7.  Or should I confess - 4 patterns!

Stay tuned for the pictures.

A great site to check out is my friend's, it is called   ...   The Sewcial Butterfly
