Flames masks

11 more masks:  1 for Laurie's brother and 10 plus the 2 from yesterday for Liz.

That makes 5 baseball masks and 8 Flames masks.

Baseball masks

I cut out 13 masks today but only got 2 completed.  There is a 2nd theme print used.  It is Calgary Flames material .

Darcy's tie down bag!

Darcy is a co-worker of my husband.  A bit ago he had me do some sewing for him.  I fixed a bag and then some tie downs for securing his kayak to his vehicle.  I bugged him about his dirty tie downs which came in a plastic bag.  So I thought that I would make him a tote bag.  I had my embroidery unit out anyways.  I am going to tell him he can throw the whole bag with his tie downs inside into the wash with his jeans.  Hope he laughs and finds it useful.  Happy Birthday Darcy!

The gusset is finally done.

I am done the gusset and working on the foot.

Do what I say, not what I do.

Are you a:  snip and leaver or a snip and gatherer of clipped threads when you quilt?  If you are like me, I fall under the first.  DON'T DO THAT!  If you snip and leave (and brush away) like I do, you will spend an hour one day gathering those threads.  Yes, you will gather them from the wheels of your chair.  So, you will need the following tools:  a pillow for your butt, snips and tweezers.

Hope you had a laugh with me.  Too bad I don't have an adoring  grandchild that would love to help me.  Or I guess you could put this in the column of cons if you are deciding to buy or not to buy a rolling chair.

Yolande's Portfolio

I made Yolande this project portfolio in October.  This portfolio is perfect for needlework projects.  It has 2 large and 2 small pockets.   With clear pockets, it is easy to see your pattern, threads and tools.

Sewing again on a borrowed machine.

As promised a stocking for "Promise".

(Promise is a pink snake that lives with my daughter.  Krista wanted a matching stocking.  What she got is a complimentary stocking.  I think they are not too bad considering the amount of years that have pasted since I made Krista's.)

This is a wall hanging of a friend's.  I added the last border.  To do this I used a partial seam.

Christmas Quilts

 2013

Gingerbread decorating party!

This is the first gingerbread house made from scratch in years.  Only down side was Krista was unable to decorate with us.  But she was able to decorate her own at her condo.

My part was the front and back.

Dave's was the sides and Rob's the roof.

Merry Christmas everyone.

At a dead stop.

Today I got the embroidery done for the stocking.  BUT after I put the embroidery unit away, my machine would not start.  So much for getting things done.  So it will be off to Pinheads in Airdrie to drop it off for servicing.

Krista's request

It has only been about 7 years since I made Krista this stocking.  If I recall right it was first year of S.A.I.T..  I made her and her roommate each one, to help decorate their dorm room.  Skip ahead to the end of last year and she said "It would be nice for Promise to have a matching one."

Well all I could find was the cut off heel and toe material.  So after a day of going through all my bins and project containers, the above plan came into place.  Hope she likes the new one when I get it done.

They may not match but they are on the way to being friends.

Motivation needed!

Some days you just need some motivation.  So I laid out what I have so far.  This quilt is fun and uses scraps.  The space between the rows will be the soft grey as well.  Really need to work on the yellow blocks.  The blue row is done.

However...I added an extra row (the brown one) and I may add to the length.  The width will be 56.5 inches and the length will be 60.5 or plus inches depending if I add on to the length.  That length will depend on my fabric and if I still have steam left over to do the extra.

Getting closer...

Getting closer with these blocks.

Well I got the scraps out again and have 45 new blocks.  The green blocks are almost finished, I have 49 of the 60 needed.

Quilting takes a backseat to class assignments

My sock class is going slow because of my knitting speed.  But you can see that I almost have the gusset done.

Below is a painting class l am taking.  A bit of free flowing, mixed with more structured, some journaling and some doodling.

It may get the best of me!

This sock is really pushing me.  I got the flap done, turned the heel and then came to the gusset.

Maybe I just can't count but man this setting up of the gusset is taking me some time to get right.

Last night I had to admit defeat and put it down and walk away for the night.

So today I need to count, count, count.  Once I can get the count right I will be able to continue .

Day 7 - a knitting day

It has been awhile since I have posted my socks.  That is because I dropped some stitches and had to rip back to the leg.  I tried to recover the stitches but was unable to manage getting them back into the right position.  So today with the help of new glasses I was able to restart the heel flap.  Just 5 more rows till the flap is done.

So if you decide to knit the no fear shorty socks, be very careful not to drop a stitch in the heel flap portion.

Day 6

I think that I am half way done the colour blocks!  But not 100% sure.

83 Blocks on day Three!

These small 2.5 inch blocks are fun to sew up.  They are not meant to line up exactly.
